What Is Theatre of Magic?

Theatre of Magic was released in 1995 under the Bally name and designed by John Popadiuk. It uses an original magic theme, so it is not based on a movie or TV show. It is still ranked among the top pinball machines of all time, and it was nominated for an award as the most innovative game of 1996.

How Does the Theatre of Magic Pinball Machine Play?

Your main job is to perform eight different magic tricks, then finish with a wizard mode. Along the way, you can chase side goals like spelling THEATRE and reaching Midnight Madness. The table also has a video mode you can play on the display.

• The Magic Trunk: A big toy on the playfield that starts modes and multiball
• Levitating ball: A magnet lifts the ball so it seems to float
• Spirit Ring: A magnet that grabs the ball from one ramp and drops it on another
• Magna-save: Magnets near the inlanes that can save a ball from draining
• Hidden lanes: Upper lanes are blocked by ramps, but a back panel mirror shows them

Why Do Players Love It?

• Fun theme: Illusions and tricks are easy to enjoy, even if you do not know pinball
• Clear goals: New players can follow the tricks, while experts can chase higher scores
• Big surprises: The magnets and toys make each game feel exciting
• Collector appeal: It is a well-known title from the golden age of pinball

Is It Good for Beginners?

Yes. The tricks give you clear goals, and the theme keeps games fun. Skilled players will find plenty of depth to master over time.
