An Unfinished Game, Revisited

Chicago Gaming built this remake as the fourth entry in its line of Bally/Williams revivals, and rather than just reskinning the original hardware, it commissioned all-new full-color display animation at four times the dot resolution of the 1998 game, running on a 19¼” XL color display roughly double the viewing area of the original. RGB general illumination replaces the old incandescent lighting throughout the cabinet, and new sculpted arches and revolver-themed toys sit around the playfield that weren’t part of the Bally original at all.

There’s also a more personal story behind the code. Pinball designer Lyman Sheats had been working on an expanded ruleset for this remake before he passed away, and Chicago Gaming later finished that work as the “Lyman Sheats Complete Upgrade” — built from his own design notes, and dedicated to his memory.
